(Web Desk) Social media website Twitter continues to remove ‘blue tick’ from the accounts of important personalities.
Former Prime Minister and Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam, fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and former captain Shahid Afridi have had their ‘blue tick’ removed from their Twitter accounts.
Similarly, the Twitter account of many personalities and organizations including Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Portuguese star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and Indian cricketer Virat Kohli will not see ‘blue tick’.
It used to be easy for people to know that this account is real through the ‘blue tick’ on the account of any person or organization on Twitter, but now users have to be careful.
What is the reason for removing ‘blue tick’ from Twitter accounts?
The reason behind the removal of the ‘blue tick’ from verified Twitter accounts is Elon Musk’s Twitter subscription fee.
Last month, Twitter also announced that it would start removing the ‘blue tick’ from verified accounts from April 1.
Late last year, Twitter introduced its subscription service Twitter Blue across the world, including in Pakistan, where users were told to maintain and receive blue ticks on their Twitter account for a monthly fee.
In Pakistan, the subscription fee of Twitter Blue has been fixed at 2250 rupees per month, while in other countries of the world it is between 8 and 11 dollars.
Users who take up the Twitter Blue service will be provided with a number of new options including long duration videos, 4,000 character tweets and editing them with Blue Tick.
