The games are on. In the football transfer world, rumors are increasingly coming to the fore about players who can switch clubs free of charge for the coming season. Is Lionel Messi (35) going to Saudi Arabia or even back to Barça? Has Milan Skriniar (28) been looking for a flat in Paris for a long time? The PSG and the Inter-Profi are the two most valuable players worldwide, whose working paper is only valid until the summer. Most of the top-class players with contracts ending in 2023 can be found in the Real Madrid squad, with a total value of more than 100 million euros alone. A top eleven worldwide set up by Transfermarkt is even worth a total of 349 million euros.
We recently dealt with the expiring contracts of the Bundesliga clubs. In the German upper house there are currently seven free transfer players with a market value of at least 10 million euros. Real Madrid alone currently has five of them in the squad and will have to deal with the situation of a total of eight team members in the coming weeks who would otherwise be gone in the summer – including top striker Karim Benzema (35) and Toni Kroos (33) and Luka Modric (37) two other longtime icons of the “Royal”.
Benzema, one of the most loyal players in the Spanish league, is third in the free transfer rankings behind Skriniar and Messi. An extension of the contract, which is valid until the summer, for the 15th season in Madrid seemed imminent last autumn. There are currently four other Bundesliga players in the top 10, including Frankfurt’s Evan Ndicka (23) and Daichi Kamada (26; farewell already official), who are among the most sought-after transfer candidates on the market. In the TM community, more rumors are discussed than about Kamada, meanwhile only about Dortmund’s Mahmoud Dahoud (27).
