Rising Telecom Prices: How to Mitigate the Costs and Protect Your Wallet

In Ireland, four major telecom providers – Three Ireland, Vodafone, Eir, and Sky – have all implemented price increases for broadband, mobile, and TV services, causing concern among consumers who are already struggling with rising costs of essential items. These providers have committed to annual increases in line with inflation, in addition to an extra 3% increase. While customers may be feeling the pinch, there are ways to mitigate these costs. Reviewing pricing plans and terms and conditions can help customers determine whether they will be affected and how much extra they will need to pay. Before switching providers, customers should call their current provider to check contract expiration dates and cancellation fees. Consumers can also try haggling for a discount, as providers often want to keep their customers. As a cost-saving measure, SIM-only mobile plans may be a better option for some. Work-from-home tax relief may also help offset rising telecom costs, with eligible individuals entitled to claim up to 30% of their broadband costs.
