Sampdoria coach Dejan Stankovic spoke after tonight’s 1-1 draw against Spezia. Here are his statements to Sky Sport:
“I don’t even want to comment on the situation we live in at Sampdoria, we know how we live every day. But let’s walk with our heads held high. I’m happy with the nice words I hear in the studio. Today was a real derby, a tense match, with great fair play on the pitch, a good match. There are so many whys, this is not the time to do analysis. I congratulate the boys and the fans, I respect them a lot, I respect them a lot. I try to think well and accept anything, I put my face into it.
Every day I talk to my players, football will always be played, they mustn’t give up. In difficulty they are proving to be men. They will use all of this as an example of growth for themselves and their teammates. In January some could get off the train, now we go all the way to June 4th, then let’s see. It takes a lot of strength to hold on to these guys, it’s hard to find words and dig into their ego. On the game we are these and so we work, with injuries and suspensions, they play gritting their teeth, angry “.
