“32nd Ligue 2 Day: Le Havre’s Draw and Sochaux’s Defeat Highlights Tight Race for Second Place”

While Metz continued its momentum by winning at Saint-Etienne (1-3), Le Havre conceded a 0-0 draw on its lawn in the Normandy derby against Quevilly-Rouen, this Saturday, during the 32nd L2 day. Still leaders, the people of Le Havre do not panic, however, with their formidable series of 30 matches without defeat, but have been stalling since the resumption of January. Their draw against Quevilly is the seventh in their last eleven matches. The HAC still have a seven-point lead over Metz, but Bordeaux will come back to six points if they win on Monday.

Behind the top three, three teams are tied with 52 points. Sochaux, Caen and Bastia are the only three teams that still have a (small) chance to tickle Metz and Bordeaux for second place. But Sochaux suffered a setback on Saturday by losing 2-1 to Laval, which is doing a good operation in its fight to maintain by approaching two points from Annecy, the first non-relegation player beaten 3-0 at home by Rodez. Caen returned to the height of Sochaux by going to win on the lawn of the red lantern Niort (2-1). And Bastia by going for a point in Dijon (1-1), 18th and still relegated.
