Elisa Mutsaers of Filmatelier Den Haag, who graduated in cinema history in The Hague, is heartbroken that so little has survived: ‘I myself think it’s a great pity that Babylon is gone too. It was nicely located between the Filmhuis and Pathé. But if you look back to the ’50s, which was really the high point, you had different genres of movie theaters. There were the premiere theaters, the reruns, the neighborhood cinemas, the action movie theaters in Boekhorststraat, the student cinemas Kriterion and the Uitkijk. Yes, you had much more choice than now.’
