Former Lebanese Minister Marwan Khair El-Din cleared of charges after returning from French investigation on Central Bank Governor’s assets.

Former Minister Marwan Khair El-Din, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Mawarid Bank, returned to Beirut from France, where he underwent an investigation for his involvement in a criminal organization and money laundering, in the French judicial investigation into the assets of the Central Bank of Lebanon Governor Riad Salameh in Europe, according to a source familiar with the file told Agency. The source told AFP that the charges against Khair El-Din are the formation of a criminal gang with the aim of embezzling public funds by a public official at the expense of the Lebanese state, breach of trust and corruption of a public official.
