The president of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, said this Saturday in Malveira that, if the prime minister does not comment on facts established by the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the airline TAP, “he has already given up on Portugal”.
“If the prime minister has nothing to say about this, he has already given up on Portugal, on governing Portugal”, said Luís Montenegro, who was speaking about the facts established by the parliamentary commission of inquiry to TAP.
The PSD president was speaking at a dinner with more than 700 militants, as part of the “Sentir Portugal” initiative, in Malveira (Mafra), in the district of Lisbon.
After talking about the contradictions between ministers, Luís Montenegro asked “where is the prime minister” and defended that António Costa “has an obligation to show his face and take responsibility”.
Therefore, he again launched the challenge for the Prime Minister to “pronounce”.
“The country needs to know from the head of the Government if we are able to trust the work of the Government”, he emphasized.
“We have the expectation that the Socialist Party will manage to be diligent enough to fulfill its mandate, but today I am no longer sure”, said Luís Montenegro, justifying that “it is not because of what happened in the country, but because the only factor of instability in Portugal within the Government is the Government itself”.
Therefore, Montenegro said “to be prepared to govern”.
