LC, one copy. Edward Allen Talbot, (1801-1839) was born in Tipperary, Ireland, and emigrated to Canada with his father in 1818. He was an inventor, a militia officer, a schoolmaster, an author, and a journalist. In 1821 he founded the London [Ontario] Sun and later Freeman’s Journal. He sympathized with the rebels of 1837, and in 1838 he left Canada for the United States and died in the poor house at Lockport, New York, in 1839. He is chiefly remembered for Five Years’ Residence in the Canadas… London. 1824, in 2 volumes. It was a success in its day and was printed several times.
