Zamość. New investments in the historic Nadshaniec

One of the activities carried out as part of the project is the reconstruction and adaptation of the attic of Nadszaniec Bastion VI for the needs Education and Integration Center and Professional Development Club. The brick, two-storey Nadszaniec was built in the years 1827-35. During the liquidation of the Zamość Fortress in 1866, the walls of Bastion VI were destroyed, while Nadszaniec, due to its usefulness for quartering the army, remained intact and later served various functions. Currently, there is a school in it – Secondary School Complex No. 1 in Zamość, the so-called “Economist”. It is one of the oldest schools in Zamość. Its history began with a two-class male Private School of Commerce, founded in 1921, which occupied one room in Nadszaniec.

Adaptation of the attic of Nadszaniec to its function Education and Integration Center and Professional Development Club required a number of renovation, modernization and maintenance works to improve the functionality and technical condition of the entire building and ensure the accessibility of the facility for people with disabilities and the elderly. The construction works already completed include: replacement of the roof, renovation of stairs, installation of a passenger lift, replacement and construction of water supply, sanitary, telecommunications, central heating and monitoring systems, internal, emergency and evacuation lighting, ventilation and air conditioning.

The Education and Integration Center will have a huge impact on the development of professional competences of Economics students. The purpose of the Center’s activities will also be developing communication skills, innovative thinking, cooperation and interests of students, children and youth using the prepared offer. Students will be able to improve their professional competences, for example, thanks to classes in the photo studio, as well as learn the art of filming, or develop their interests related to robotics and computer science. The multimedia lab will be a place where both students and residents will have access to the latest multimedia technologies. In the gastronomic studio and kitchen facilities, young people will be able to develop their culinary interests or organize various workshops related to healthy eating. A separate room constituting a common room will, in turn, be a meeting place with artists, people from the world of culture and science. Various exhibitions (e.g. of local artists and students) and extracurricular art activities will be held here. Animation and artistic studios, fitness, leisure and didactic rooms will also be built. There will also be a center a place of integration of children, youth and the elderly. For this purpose, an intergenerational integration room was set aside, and one of the rooms was intended for University of the Third Age. Currently, activities related to the purchase of equipment for the studios, rooms and studies are underway. The equipment will include, among others: wardrobes, desks, tables, chairs, shelves, treadmills, elliptical trainers, cameras with tripods, studio lamps and elements of photo darkroom equipment, IT equipment as well as household appliances and electronics, a set of power tools, sewing machines with accessories .

It will have its seat in the renovated nadshaniec Professional Development Club of the Poviat Employment Office in Zamość. The club provides vocational counseling and employment services to people who have not been able to use these services at Labor Offices so far, e.g. students of primary and secondary schools, ie young people facing the choice of further education, and in the future the choice of a profession. As part of the Club, group meetings are organized to broaden knowledge about the labor market, workshops preparing for job interviews and preparation of professional application documents, soft skills training (communication, motivation, assertiveness).

The strategic vision of the eastern part of Poland assumes that this region will develop and become competitive in relation to other regions in the country and in the European Union. Nadszaniec, where the Education and Integration Center and the Professional Development Club will operate, will become a place gathering students, teaching staff and local residents.
