The chairman of the board of the French car manufacturer Renault, Fabrīs Kambolivs, has commented on the price reduction of electric car manufacturer Tesla in recent months for its cars – he calls it Tesla’s warning to other car manufacturers, although it can also be considered a price war.
In recent months, Tesla has adjusted the prices of its machines several times around the world, mostly reducing them significantly. Although this goes to the hearts of customers, of course, other car manufacturers are worried about it – some have responded with price reductions, others are sticking to their prices and not following Tesla’s steps.
Renault also offered a promotional price for its Megane E-Tech Electric model in some countries, thus increasing sales in March, but the price reduction has not been as great as in the case of Tesla, when in some countries the prices of certain models fell by up to 20%.
Renault’s chairman emphasizes that they analyze the situation and evaluate it from country to country in order to analyze the market and act accordingly, trying to protect their market share and maintain competitiveness.
The price reduction was successful for Tesla, as the manufacturer once again set a record for deliveries in one quarter. The head of the company, Elon Musk, says that he is not starting a price war, but wants to offer cars at a more affordable price.
