“New Draft Law on Registered Social Enterprises for Disadvantaged Workers in the Czech Republic”

Two categories could apply to social enterprises in the Czech Republic in the future. One concerns companies and organizations that prepare people who are disadvantaged in the labor market to return to regular employment. The second category includes companies that employ such people on a permanent basis. This is provided for in a draft law on registered social enterprises prepared by the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. The department will therefore keep a register of the relevant companies, and registered companies should receive subsidies from the employment office for their employees.

According to the existing address register, there are currently 233 social enterprises with 412 business premises in the Czech Republic. Companies are already receiving subsidies from the state for wages and operating costs if they employ more than 50 percent people who are disadvantaged in the labor market for health or social reasons.
