FIFA officially released the FIFA Matchday schedule between Indonesian National team vs Palestine which will be held on June 14, 2023.
FIFA’s official website has yet to confirm the location of the match. However, FIFA named Palestine as the first team to normally act as the host.
To be sure, the duel between Indonesia vs Palestine took place once. Five days later, Palestine is scheduled to face the Chinese national team on June 19, 2023.
FIFA Matchday is an important moment for the Indonesian National Team to boost its world ranking. This friendly duel is also part of the preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup.
The tournament will later be held in Qatar in January 2024. The 2023 Asian Cup event was postponed due to the very hot temperature in Qatar in the middle of the year.
Currently, the Indonesian national team is ranked 149th in the world. This position is up two levels from the previous ranking of 151st.
PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir some time ago announced plans for trials against Palestine. He emphasized that problems on the gridiron are not automatically drawn into the political arena.
“What is certain is that our commitment is PSSI to support sports and the President also does not mix sports with politics,” said Erick.
“Yesterday we also saw a survey that 79 percent of the public wanted the same thing. Don’t judge us for being political because we invited the Palestinian team to play on June 14,” he added.
