The President of the National Council is concerned about anti-Semitism and is pleased about the rush of visitors to the new House.
Parliament is open 310 days a year. “We hit a nerve with the open house,” says National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka (ÖVP). There is a “non-decreasing interest”, but the visitors are not only interested in “sightseeing”, but more and more in the political processes behind it. During a background discussion, Sobotka also referred to the parliament’s extra-parliamentary activities, such as various workshops in the federal states and the “Democracy on tour” campaign, which is now stopping off in Styria. At the beginning of next week, Sobotka will give a speech at the meeting of European Parliament Speakers in Prague. Contents include: the war in Ukraine and dealing with artificial intelligence. The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, Ruslan Stefantschuk, will also be there.
