The Russian movie Vizov (The challenge) was released on Thursday, the news agency reports AFP. It is the first film that was partly shot in space.
Actress Yulia Peresild, cinematographer and producer Klim Shipenko and astronaut Oleg Novitsky spent almost two weeks in October 2021 on the International Space Station to explore parts of Vizov record. The film is about a surgeon (Peresild) who travels to the ISS to save Novitsky’s life.
Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the film at a gala at the Kremlin earlier this month. Putin said Russia was “first again” to reach a milestone in space. For example, the Soviet Union was the first to put a human into space. Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin orbited the Earth in 1961 in a capsule.
The Russian film has beaten an American project. Top Gunactor Tom Cruise is currently involved in the production of a film that will also be shot partly in space.
