A lot of cheap smartphones under three thousand are sold on our market, most of them are not worth talking about – they have too many compromises, the quality of the processing itself can be questionable with some unknown brands. But that is not the case Redmi A2, which is currently on sale on the Czech market. It is sold in three colors (green, blue, black) in a memory configuration of 2 + 32 GB per 2500 CZK.
Redmi is a subsidiary brand of the well-known Xiaomi, which doesn’t skimp on even its lowest models. In addition, the Redmi A2 is also unique within the entire Xiaomi portfolio in that it does not contain the manufacturer’s own superstructure MIUI, which may not be to everyone’s taste, but pure Android 13 in a lightweight Go Edition version (due to the lower 2GB operating memory). Performance is provided by the Helio G36 processor from Mediatek.
Of course, we will find some compromises on the device for the given price. There was no place for a fingerprint reader, the 6.5-inch IPS display only has to make do with HD+ resolution and has relatively large frames, it is charged with an old microUSB connector, and of course the phone does not support the latest 5G networks. For thrifty customers, these “illnesses” may not be a big problem.
We rate the processing of the back made of matte plastic with a fine texture that prevents fingerprints as successful. The rear camera is dual with a resolution of 8 Mpx on the primary sensor, the front camera is five megapixels. The battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh is charged with a maximum power of 10 W. Some “relics of the past” are also pleasing to the phone, such as the preserved 3.5 mm jack or FM radio (accessible after connecting wired headphones). The phone includes a drawer with a triple slot (2 nanoSIM, 1 microSD).
