320 Sudanese soldiers fled the battles towards Chad

April 20, 2023 – 05:33

Al-Akhbar (N’Djamena) – Chadian Defense Minister General Daoud Yahya Ibrahim announced that about 320 Sudanese soldiers fled the fighting in their country and crossed the border into Chad, where they surrendered to the Chadian army, adding that “all of them were disarmed and quartered.”

The minister said during a press conference that these Sudanese soldiers consist of “gendarmerie, police and army,” highlighting that they fled “for fear of being killed by the Rapid Support Forces.”

Armed clashes broke out in Sudan between the armed forces led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces led by Ahmed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hamidti, and the two sides exchanged accusations of causing the outbreak of the ongoing battles, in light of the faltering chances of a settlement so far.
