In the middle of the month I was invited to give a conference at the Banking and Commercial School (EBC), Hidalgo campus. The EBC has a special space in my heart because my parents met there.
The Master in Administration, Claudia Aoki Rodríguez, who is a professor at the Pachuca Campus and an expert in personal finance, told me that, according to data from the 2019 National Survey on Household Finances, the 56.9% of families in Mexico (20.9 million households) had some type of debt.
Having debt means having credit or credit service and debt is good, of course, when it can be paid adequately to build a good credit history in the Credit Bureau.
Countries also resort to credit, Master Aoki pointed out, the secret rightly said, is not to fall into a situation of hasty or urgent debt that can be very expensivethe important thing is to educate yourself in finances, lose the fear of talking about moneytake responsibility and objectively analyze the debts against the actual ability to pay, as well as the benefits that future credit will bring.
And the purpose of the Buró de Crédito conference is precisely for people to have a healthy relationship between their money, their debt and their credit capacity. We start by teaching how to make a responsible budget so that people know their ability to pay and their ability to borrow. We see what to look for when choosing a credit, how our credit decisions are reflected in our Credit Report and My Score, we learn what to do when we are in difficulty due to a debt issue and, finally, we learn to manage risk.
And it is that the risk is everywhere, including in the granting of a loan. As Master Aoki points out, It is important not to lose sight of the fact that when a physical or legal person comes to request the opening of a credit, with the applicant’s prior authorization, the credit grantor will resort to the Credit Bureau to meet the applicant and assess the risk and convenience, according to its own risk and business model, to authorize or reject the application. If we see it from a business point of view, adds the Master, the credit grantor has the right to be certain, through the information, to decide if he exposes his money to a third party and under what conditions.
And there is the detail, the Buró de Crédito conference reveals to people what credit grantors pay attention to in order to improve the chances of obtaining and keeping credit.
Requesting a credit bureau conference is very easy; you have to write an email with the title “Conference request” and send it to the address [email protected]
To conclude, I would like to thank the entire EBC community for allowing me to share my knowledge with them. I am very happy to know that I have done my bit, hoping that soon they will write to me and tell me everything they have achieved with the help of credit and their credit history.
