The Indonesian government has tasked state-owned postal service company, PT Pos Indonesia, with distributing basic food assistance worth Rp39.8 billion ($2.8m) to 10,112 pensioners of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo), a state-owned maritime company. Each recipient will receive Rp3,850,000 ($273). The aid was given to welcome Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijriah. PT Pos Indonesia began distributing the Pelindo basic food assistance fund on 18 April and expects to complete the distribution by 20 April. Two distribution patterns are being used: recipients may pick up the aid at the Post Office or it may be delivered directly to their house. The company mapped the payment locations closest to the recipients’ addresses to make it easier for pensioners to withdraw funds. After the distribution of Pelindo basic food assistance, it is hoped that government ministries and agencies will continue to trust Pos Indonesia with the distribution of other assistance funds.
