The College of Plastic Surgeons of the State of Chihuahua AC, in collaboration with the ALMA Foundation and government authorities, will carry out the Breast Reconstruction Campaign “Dale Vida a Tu Vida” on the 21st and 22nd of this month, an altruistic exercise that seeks to gather and support, at no cost, patients who have been affected by breast cancer and who require treatment and surgery.
The President of the College, Dr. Fernando M. Gamboa López, explained that the doctors of his guild will care for women, mainly who do not have the necessary resources to undergo the Breast Reconstruction procedure, who have a year or more in their process without current chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatments, who do not have disseminated disease (metastasis), and without uncontrolled added diseases such as uncontrolled diabetes or hypertension; He added that patients who require reconstruction surgery for the first time or for secondary procedures (refinement, contralateral breast surgery, change of implants or removal of expanders, etc.) may be included.
For his part, Dr. Ricardo A. Baca Martínez, former President of the College and currently head of the Collegiate Federation of Plastic Surgery of Mexico, explained that the day will begin with a protocol act tomorrow Thursday 20 o’clock at 10 :00 hrs. in the Auditorium of the General Hospital, where together with Dr. Rina Gitler Weingarten, Founder and Director of Fundación ALMA, and officials from the state health sector, they will meet with patients and families to start the Breast Reconstruction Campaign.
Likewise, Dr. Jorge I. Borunda Herrera, Vice President of the collegiate, said that there will be 14 patients from Ciudad Madera, Jiménez and the capital of Chihuahua, which will be operated on by a total of 22 subspecialist doctors in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery. and Reconstructiva, 12 from the College and 10 from the ALMA Foundation, which will begin operations at 08:00 a.m., ending at approximately 04:00 p.m., on both days.
It should be noted that the cost of a Breast Reconstruction is between approximately 120 and 150 thousand pesos, this includes the surgical team, implants, expanders, fees and hospitalization, in such a way that by working as a team, the surgeries were achieved carried out in the state hospitals, General Hospital and the Cancer Center.
