In addition to Mexico, the guest of honor country at FILBo 2023, Cali will debut the award of Guest of Honor City in this edition. This is Mexico’s third participation in the Fair, after serving as a guest in 1993 and 2009. Led by authors such as Paco Ignacio Taibo II, Mariana Oliver, Juan Villoro and Antonio Ortuño, a pavilion will be dedicated to exploring the links between Colombian and Mexican literature in the same year that marks the first century of the emergence of Mexican muralism and the ninetieth anniversary of the founding of the Fondo de Cultura Económica, the largest public publishing house in Spanish. The pavilion will also host a tribute to Gabriel García Márquez and will have the sale of Mexican crafts and gastronomy. Cali, the guest city, will have a space within the Colombia Pavilion with more than 1,500 publications by fifty authors from Cali.
