Decrease in Covid-19 Cases Reported in Chile: Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health reported that new confirmed cases of Covid-19 at the national level decreased by 28.2% in the last week, while in the last 14 days they decreased by 61.9%. In addition, all regions lower their cases last seven and fourteen days.

The case report for this Wednesday, April 19, records 570 new cases of COVID-19, with a positivity rate of 3.36% in the last 24 hours nationwide, with 14,473 exams, PCR, and antigen tests. The daily positivity in the Metropolitan Region is 3.22%.

According to the sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are O’Higgins, Tarapacá, Coquimbo and Valparaíso.

Meanwhile, the Atacama region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Tarapacá, Ñuble and Valparaíso.

The total number of people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the country reaches 5,280,223. Of this total, 1,298 patients are in the active stage, considering a 5-day isolation from the onset of symptoms or from taking the test, according to the Opening phase criteria. The recovered cases are 5,189,266.

As for deaths, according to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), in the last 24 hours there were 4 deaths due to causes associated with COVID-19. The total number of deaths amounts to 61,279 in the country.
