Son of Bonanno Mafia associate sentenced to life for father’s murder in New York

A federal judge of NY sentenced this Wednesday to life imprisonment Anthony Zottolathe son of an associate of the Bonanno mafia clan, for orchestrating the execution of his septuagenarian father in 2018 to take over his million-dollar business.

Murder

Sylvester Zottolathe victim, was 71 when he was gunned down buying a drive-through coffee at a McDonald’s in The Bronx in 2018, after surviving several violent attacks over a year without knowing who was behind it.

“It was his own son, who was so determined to control the lucrative family real estate business that he hired a gang of hitmen to murder his father,” prosecutor Breon Peace of the Eastern District of New York explained in a press release.

Execution

According to local media, Sylvester Zottola he made a fortune running illegal gambling machines for the Bonanno clan and invested the money in numerous rental properties that were valued in the tens of millions of dollars when he died.
