Javier Tebas, president of the Spanish football league La Liga, has expressed that FC Barcelona are currently in no financial position to win back Lionel Messi, however, he hopes that this situation will change in the future.
In a press conference, Tebas stressed that Messi’s registration is not currently feasible but that there is still time to wait for a strategic plan from Barcelona. He expressed hope that the Catalan club would be able to bring back the Argentinian star, whose contract at Paris Saint-Germain ends in June 2022.
Although the La Liga goal is to have Messi back in their ranks, Tebas stressed that no adjustments to financial control regulations would be made to facilitate Barcelona’s registration of Messi. According to a report by Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are determined to bring Messi back next summer.
Messi left Barcelona in the summer of 2021 for PSG. During his 69 games at PSG, Messi scored 31 goals but failed to become the Parisian club’s idol, especially due to PSG’s failure in the Champions League.
