“Fortuner Driver Under the Influence of Narcotics Causes Chaos on Railroad Tracks”

The police named the Toyota driver Fortuner who entered the railroad tracks through level crossings in Sumpiuh, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, under the influence of type narcotics sabu.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Banyumas Police, Kompol Agus Supriadi, said that the driver, known as Candra, had consumed methamphetamine since leaving Jambi on Monday (17/4).

“We have examined him and admitted that Monday he left Jambi consuming crystal methamphetamine,” said Agus when contacted, Wednesday (19/4).

As a result of consumption of methamphetamine, said Agus, the Fortuner driver had an effect. One of them, he experienced hallucinations.

“Then while driving it was out of control, then it finally hit the railroad tracks,” said Agus.

Currently, the police are still investigating the alleged suicidal intent of the Fortuner driver by inviting all the passengers.

“The investigator’s assumption that the action was due to the influence of methamphetamine, (about the alleged suicide) is still being investigated,” he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the finding of paper from the Fortuner driver’s bag, Agus emphasized that the paper was not a will or anything related to suicide. Instead, the paper contains his work notes.

Agus also said that PT KAI plans to make a police report regarding the incident. This is because the aftermath of the incident disrupted a number of train schedules.

“Information from the Head of Daop V there is information that he will make a report because there is a loss, because it enters the railroad tracks and stops, this disrupts the schedule,” he said.

Previously, the Fortuner driver who entered the railroad track through a level crossing in Sumpiuh, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, was suspected of inviting all the car passengers to commit suicide.

The incident occurred at around 03.00 WIB. The police also found two pieces of paper in the driver’s bag which is currently being investigated by the police.

“The driver said if one dies, all die,” said Rizki, Wednesday (19/4).

Meanwhile, in a video recording circulating via WhatsApp, one of the car passengers, Taqwa (61) claimed to be from Jambi.

He and his wife and two children were going home to Purworejo to visit their sick parents by using a Fortuner car with plate number B-1559-NCQ which was a rented vehicle.

He suspects that the car driver, known as Candra, deliberately directed his vehicle to the railroad tracks because he wanted to invite all the passengers to kill themselves together.

“It was intentional, so that everyone died, the driver said so. Thank God it’s okay even though the children suffered from blisters,” said the resident of Baru Village, Mestong District, Muaro Jambi Regency.
