News (Nouakchott) – The Ministry of Animal Development announced a series of measures it described as urgent in order to limit the spread of the disease, with the initiation of epidemiological veterinary investigations following the reporting of poultry deaths in poultry farms in Nouakchott.
The ministry said in a briefing issued by it that the urgent measures began by placing the concerned poultry farms under veterinary control, placing chickens under quarantine, in addition to disinfecting the facilities on a regular basis, using means of protection, limiting external visits, and monitoring the movement of individuals and cars.
The Ministry stated that it asked poultry breeders to report any suspicions of disease symptoms, reminding them to start implementing an appropriate vaccination program and urging them to adhere to the necessary health measures to avoid the spread of the disease.
The Ministry of Animal Development confirmed the formation of a cell to monitor the situation, noting that it will remain on alert to keep pace with the situation closely and take all necessary measures to protect animals and the population.
She also pledged to provide the owners of chicken farms with the necessary instructions to keep everyone informed of the development of the situation, pointing out that the veterinary services received in recent days a warning of health problems that caused the death of poultry in three poultry farms in Nouakchott.
She pointed out that the preliminary investigations that were evaluated confirmed the occurrence of cases in some poultry farms, and the veterinary authorities began taking samples and they were sent to the laboratory, and it is expected that their analyzes will be completed in the coming hours.
