Shaista Parveen, the wife of gangster Atiq Ahmad, is expected to surrender to police in Prayagraj, India, following the deaths of her son and husband last week. Parveen is on the run after being named as an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case. Last week, the Uttar Pradesh government doubled the cash reward for her to INR50,000 ($681) from INR25,000. Police have been searching for Parveen since she was named as a suspect in the shooting incident on 24 February, in which lawyer Umesh Pal and two police officers were killed outside his home in Sulemsarai. A case was registered against Atiq Ahmad, his brother, Parveen, two sons, and 11 other people following the complaint made by Pal’s wife.
