Anders Trondsen Makes Long-Awaited Debut for IFK Gothenburg After Protracted Injury Concerns and Surgery

Protracted injury concerns and extensive operations have put an end to Anders Trondsen making his debut in IFK Gothenburg. But in the 0-1 loss against Malmö FF, he played his first minutes in more than a year when he had to jump into the 56th minute of the game.

– For my part, it’s been a little over a year since I last played, so if you take the loss aside, I’m just happy that I can put on the football boots again. I’ve been through two major surgeries, so I’m just happy to be able to play again. Then I still have a bit to go to top form, notes Trondsen after the match.

Anders Trondsen quiets down and becomes more emotionally involved. He looks back on the last time in Turkish Trabzonspor and the beginning in Blåvitt which did not turn out as he had planned.

– It has been hard. Football is the only thing I have. I have sacrificed everything to be a soccer player, so there are many people who don’t know me who only see me as “the soccer player Trondsen”. That’s what I’m judged on and my joy is when I’m on the court. When I didn’t get to be, it was very hard.

Next weekend, IFK Göteborg will face Djurgårdens IF. Then the 28-year-old has hopes of more minutes on the field.

– I notice it’s been a while since I played. You notice it, but it shouldn’t take long to get going again.

How many minutes do you have in you right now?

– It depends on. If we have a lot of ball, I can manage for quite a while, but when there are a lot of runs, like today, it becomes more difficult. It’s important not to rush when I’ve been through what I’ve been through, concludes Anders Trondsen.
