Lindsey Graham seeks Saudi recognition of Israel in meeting with Netanyahu

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Republican Senator Lindsey Graham indicated that he seeks to develop relations between America and Saudi Arabia, which will lead to Riyadh’s recognition of Israel, in a meeting he had with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Monday, who stressed that the normalization of Relations with Saudi Arabia will have “tremendous results” both regionally and internationally.

Graham said in his meeting with Netanyahu, according to a video clip he posted on his official page on Twitter: “I told Saudi Arabia that we want to develop our relations and we must do so in a way that reassures our friends in Israel.”

And the Republican senator continued: “I would like to help President Biden, and I told the Saudi crown prince that the best time to develop our relationship is now.”

And Graham added, “President Biden is very interested in normalizing relations with Saudi Arabia in exchange for Saudi Arabia recognizing the only Jewish state.”

And the US senator continued: “As a Republican, I can help reach that, and I will do so, and I believe that the Republican party in general will be happy to work with President Biden to change the relationship between America and Saudi Arabia, which will result later in the Saudi government’s recognition of Israel.”

“That’s why I’m here and it’s going to take a lot of effort but it’s worth a try,” Graham added.

On the other hand, Netanyahu said: “We want to normalize relations and peace with Saudi Arabia, and we view this as the great leap to end the Arab-Israeli conflict.”

The Israeli Prime Minister added, “This agreement can bear tremendous results for Israel, Saudi Arabia, the region, and the world. Therefore, we welcome the American participation on the part of President Biden, in addition to the support provided by the two parties in Congress.”

Graham had met with the Saudi crown prince during his visit to the Kingdom on Wednesday, and indicated that he had a “fruitful meeting” with him, and expressed his aspiration to move US-Saudi relations to a new level.
