NHO director Ole Erik Almlid admits that high management salaries and million-dollar bonuses soured the mediation between NHO and LO.
Almlid acknowledges to Address newspaper that NHO did not have the best entry into the mediation, as the overviews of executive salary developments and million-dollar bonuses became the topic before the mediation started.
– The figures that came were salaries that were given last year. But it should be a lesson for us and our companies that there is a cost to increasing executive salaries and bonus payments, says Almlid.
– It is a fact that high management salaries and bonuses made the negotiations more difficult this time, he says further.
Almlid says that the breakdown in the negotiations and the strike is a major defeat.
– Although a strike is a completely legal means of action on the same level as others, I believe that all strikes are defeat. Norway does not need a strike now. The companies that have been taken out and have been taken out should be allowed to run as usual, says Almlid.
