“We are expanding the scale of operations and asking citizens to be careful,” said an army spokesman (translation from TASS). According to him, the army managed to repel the blow and now it has “secured the position.” Now the armed forces are ready for the transition to the second phase “with new forces.”
On the eve of April 17, the Sudanese army shared its successes in the armed conflict. It was alleged that the fighters of the Rapid Reaction Forces surrendered and “scattered in different directions.”
The armed clash between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Reaction Force continues for several days. The conflict is related to the timing of the inclusion of the Rapid Reaction Forces in the armed forces and who will be the commander in chief. According to UN estimates, at least 180 people died, more than 1.8 thousand were injured. Among the dead and wounded are foreign citizens, as well as three employees of the UN World Food Program.
