Daddy Yankee announces his farewell from Puerto Rico

Puerto Rican singer Daddy Yankee announced this Monday that he will say goodbye to his professional career with the event ‘La Meta’, with several concerts at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum of Puerto Rico between November 30 and December 3 of this year.

Daddy Yankee announced his decision to retire from music in March 2022 and planned to hold his last three concerts in Puerto Rico in January, but they were postponed.

“Puerto Rico, now we are prepared to say goodbye to my musical career as it deserves. This will be my greatest achievement, being with my people and with all those who will visit my beautiful island for my retirement.”indicated the also nicknamed “Jefe del Reguetón” and “The Big Boss”, through his Instagram account.

“The race starts from the moment you start to breathe. As you grow, you look at which route to take, the easy but short path, or the one with obstacles but rewarding. That was the path I took in my life to become an artist who represented his island with a sound that came out of the neighborhood ”he said about his career.

He also went on to say: “I am pleased with all that you supported me and being able to shout together that Daddy Yankee is not a singer, Daddy Yankee is a movement. A movement that is heard throughout the world and that today I can confirm that with this achievement and having traveled the world, I have reached ‘The Goal’”.

Pre-sale tickets to the last concerts of Daddy Yankee

The pre-sale of the tickets will begin this Wednesday only for those who purchased tickets for the performances of the Hiram Bithorn Stadium, according to the artist.

“For me it is gratifying to know that I say goodbye to the scenarios where I was born, where I live, in Puerto Rico. PR. And we are going to celebrate this with Reggaeton. See you at the Choliseo so that we can all enjoy ‘La Meta’ together”Daddy Yankee concluded.

It was last November, when Pina Records announced that the January 6, 7 and 8 performances had been postponed due to “logistical setbacks and careful production details.”

The promotion and production company Pina Records, owned by the condemned Puerto Rican producer Raphy Pina, denied at the end of March that Daddy Yankee will perform in Latin America and Europe with his “La Última Vuelta” tour.

“We reiterate, the last presentations of his career will be in Puerto Rico. Any other promotion you see is totally false”the company emphasized.

Last week, his song “Gasolina”, an anthem of this musical genre, entered the sound record that the United States Library of Congress, the largest in the world, keeps for posterity.

His most recent album, “Legendaddy”, which exceeded 600 million views in less than a month, has 19 songs and collaborations with artists such as Bad Bunny, Rauw Alejandro, Pitbull, Natti Natasha and Becky G.
