Unless the iPhone photo album is sorted immediately after each shooting, it is very likely that there will be a lot of continuous shooting photos, or pictures with repeated screenshots, and the repeated photos in the photo album are likely to occupy the space of the mobile phone. After Apple provided the iOS 16 update, the device added a duplicate item function, which allows you to quickly view duplicate photos in the album, merge and organize photos, and directly delete or back up these photos to the cloud with one click. The advantage is that the detection standard of iOS 16 is very strict, and if it is slightly different, it will be judged as a different photo, and there will be no accidental deletion.
Quickly view the same photo with the duplicate item function
After the iOS 16 update, open the album and slide down to see the option of “Duplicate Items”. After clicking on it, you can see all the detected photos in the album. Note that the system’s detection standards are very strict. Only those that are exactly the same will be judged as duplicate photos. If it is just a series of photos, it may not be detected. After testing, it is found that the screenshots are only different in time, and they will be judged as different photos.
▲After updating iOS 16, open the album and there is an option to repeat items at the bottom.
Organize photos with only 1 key in the merge step
On the duplicate items page of the album, click the photos you want to organize and press Merge, the system will automatically find out the version with the best resolution and relevant information in each group of photos, and other photos will be moved to ” In the “Recently Deleted” folder, you can view and organize each group, or you can press Select All to process all the duplicate photos in one breath. If you regret it afterwards and want to retrieve the newly merged photos, you can retrieve them in the recently deleted folder.
▲Click the Merge button on the right side of the duplicate item page to process photos, or click “Select” in the upper right corner to process a large number of photos.
▲If you feel troublesome and don’t want to view them one by one, you can press Select All in the upper left corner, and you can process them in one go. Except for the photos kept by the system, you can find them in the “Recently Deleted” folder, so don’t worry about the photos disappearing directly.
▲Before the selected photos are merged, they can be shared to other places for backup, or they can be directly put into the hidden folder by pressing the setting button in the lower right corner.
The detection standard is too strict, and old mobile phones cannot be used
It is very convenient to use the duplicate item function of the album to organize duplicate photos, but the detection standard of the system is too strict, and only the same photos will be detected. As long as the background of the consecutive photos is different, they will not appear in the duplicate items, so In addition to using this function, you may still need to manually check or use a third-party application software to organize.
▲When viewing photos, a small step is to press the setting icon in the upper right corner, and you can choose the displayed thumbnail ratio or only filter photos or videos.
