SKK Migas is targeting to drill 991 oil and gas development wells by 2023. However, it is projected that this target will not be achieved.
SKK Migas Exploitation Deputy Wahyu Wibowo said the target number of wells drilled had increased significantly compared to 2018 where the actual drilling at that time was only 278 wells.
“Starting from 2018 until now the increase has been exponential, and we hope that this year according to the WP&B (work program & budget) we can complete 991,” he said in a press conference on Upstream Oil and Gas Performance for the First Quarter of 2023, Monday (17/4/2023).
A number of incidents that occurred at Pertamina meant that the drilling target would not be achieved. Various events that occurred made Pertamina re-check the drilling activities.
“We saw that there were many incidents, especially at Pertamina and PHR yesterday. To respond to this, Pertamina carried out a safety stand down, basically they stopped all drilling work. There were 100 plus workover and well service drilling rigs which were temporarily stopped to be rechecked,” he explained.
The check covers various aspects from the rig side to the crew. If there are no problems, then drilling can be continued again.
“As a result of that there is a possibility that this year we will complete the outlook lower than 991 (wells). Currently it is written as 919 but of course we will not stop at 919,” he said.
