In Concepción and Santiago they will promote Itata wines – La Discusión

Two activities to promote wines from the Itata Valley will take place in Santiago and Concepción. This is Cinsault Night, which will take place starting at 8:00 p.m. today at the Hotel Marina del Sol Talcahuano; and the Ñuble Wine Expo, scheduled for Friday the 21st and Saturday the 22nd in the Plaza de Ñuñoa, in the Metropolitan Region.

In the sixth version of the Cinsault Night, organized in conjunction with the Arauco company, attendees will be able to enjoy the traditional labels offered by this area, where the Moscatel de Alejandría and País vines also stand out.

It is about twenty small producers who will participate in a day of wine tasting, live music and also a contest to choose the best Cinsault, an activity where they will also seek to obtain resources after the fires that affected the valley and where many lost their vineyards , warehouses, machinery and even houses.

“We want to make a call for people to attend this beautiful day that we will have, where they can enjoy the rich wines that we make in the Itata Valley, unique in our country. We have gone through very hard times, but with everyone’s support we are confident that we will be able to recover,” said Omar Fuentealba, who lost his crops in the Magdalena Alto area, Guarilihue.

Cinsault Night was going to take place in February in Ñipas, but the event was finally canceled due to forest fires.

Ñuble Wine Expo

More than 20 heritage vineyards from the Itata Valley will be on April 21 and 22 in the Plaza de Ñuñoa, Metropolitan Region, to participate in the Ñuble Wine Expo, the first event promoted from the region to publicize the attractions of Ñuble and reactivate wine tourism, affected by the fires in February.

This was announced yesterday by the regional governor Óscar Crisóstomo; the economy minister, Erick Sólo de Zaldívar; the director(s) of Sernatur Ñuble, Marcela Rodríguez; and the representative of the Itata Valley vineyards, Deysi Villagrán, who invited the public to this activity that is carried out within the framework of the “Dissemination and promotion of the Ñuble Region” program, executed by Sernatur Ñuble and financed by the Regional Government from Ñuble.

The governor recalled the commitment to the producers and the community affected by the fires. Likewise, he highlighted the Regional Government’s program with ProChile that has allowed “the wines from our area to be sold abroad, but there was a strategy that was not explored, which was how we showed the Itata Valley at the national level. That is why we are going to be in the Plaza de Ñuñoa with the Expo Vinos Ñuble, which will receive more than 20 local producers who will have the opportunity to present their wines”.

The Economy Department stressed that “it will be a point of promotion, but it will also generate commercialization spaces, which, in the post-forest fire and productive reactivation context, becomes more relevant.”

On the other hand, the director(s) of Sernatur Ñuble explained that “this is a pioneering activity by the Regional Government after the fires, to be able to showcase all the wines of the Itata Valley and position not only the wines, but also the tourist destination with its products and its wine tourism offer in general”.

During the launch, Deysi Villagrán, from Viña Altos del Valle de Portezuelo, stated that “it has been very difficult to be the victim of a fire, one is really disoriented, because it is not only material things that are lost, but also, in my case, , are ten years of work. That is why we are very happy and very encouraged, because we have felt supported by the Seremi de Economía, by the Regional Government, by Sernatur and this is one more example, this activity that is going to be carried out in Ñuñoa, of how we are supported to stand up.”

Expo Vinos Ñuble will take place from 12:00 to 22:00 on April 21 and 22. In addition to the Itata Valley wine exhibition, it will have stands of tourist destinations in Ñuble, handicrafts by the potters of Quinchamalí and Colchanderas de Ninhue, as well as live music and humor.
