A Doctor Who event is reportedly coming in Fortnite – read more here what we can expect for the 60th anniversary of the show!
More to Fortnite X Doctor Who
Twitter user iFireMonkey, who regularly reports on Fortnite content even ahead of its release, wrote that the game will be linked to the popular BBC sci-fi show. According to him, the two-week event will coincide with the show’s 60th anniversary celebrations, which begin later this year. “The item shop should contain 2 skins, 2 pickaxes, 1 glider and 1 emote”, it is claimed. iFireMonkey also posted an image of what is believed to be an extremely early version of the event’s tab in the in-game menu. The menu includes references to the Tardis and UNIT, both from the long-running sci-fi show.
Fortnite has had collaborations with several major brands over the years including Star Wars, Dragonball Z, Destiny 2, Uncharted and more. It’s unclear if the event will be as in-depth as some of the other brand events. For example, the various Star Wars collaborations have added lightsabers to the game as special weapons. The long-term Marvel events in the game added Spider-Man swinging mechanics, Iron Man blasters, and other comic-inspired weapons. According to the report, this event appears to focus more on the game’s creative mode, although it’s unclear how this will manifest. Is there a possibility of teleportation, or something else – what do you think?
