Navi Mumbai: 11 people who took part in Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s public program died due to sunstroke in Mumbai. The tragedy happened at the Maharashtra Bhushan Awards ceremony on Sunday. 50 people were admitted to hospital with heart problems after sunstroke. 11 people died of sunstroke while sitting in the open air in Navi Mumbai, which recorded a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis attended the event. The program started at 11.30 pm and continued till 1 am.
Terming the incident as unfortunate, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased. At the same time, the NCP came forward demanding an inquiry into the death of 11 people who participated in Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s public program due to sunstroke. NCP leader Ajit Pawar alleged that it was a government-sponsored disaster. Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray said that the plan went wrong.
