A separate chess battle was held by Scottish chess grandmaster Jonathan Rowson and 40 child fighters. The five child wrestlers who kept the chess champion on edge won a draw in an inch-and-a-half match. The match was organized by Chaturangapada, a WhatsApp group of chess players and enthusiasts. The different competition was for the promotion of Chaturangapada magazine which started publication recently. 40 children played in a circle. Jonathan Rowson moved the pieces by approaching the chessboard of each one in order. The star who defeated 35 children had to settle with five. Siddharth Damodar, Achilles, Advait Soman, Satrujith and Devanarayanan won the draw. Jonathan Rowson, a three-time British chess champion, was awarded the FIDE Grandmaster title in 1999.
