“From Child Actor to Diplomat: The Unconventional Career Path of Andrey Gromov”

The artist never doubted the correctness of his life path.

Andrey Gromov got into the world of cinema in elementary school. Already at the age of 11, he starred in “The Adventures of the Yellow Suitcase”, and became famous all over the country thanks to the military drama “Officers”. The audience and Gromov’s colleagues were sure that a successful future awaited him, but he preferred a completely different fate.

According to the artist himself, during the filming he managed to communicate with other famous actors. And then he realized that in order to build a career, he needs to be “a very big artist”, otherwise he will never become popular. And then the young Gromov decided to choose a completely different profession.

After school, he entered MGIMO, graduating in 1986. Since then, the former screen star has represented the interests of the country abroad, and since 2018 has been serving at the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria.

Andrew does not regret his choice. He enjoys his work, which helps him to get to know other cultures and build relationships between countries.

“This gives me the opportunity to get to know the world, other countries, and also contribute to their rapprochement”, Gromov admitted in an interview.
