Indeed, most of the car manufacturers are not convinced, among which there is also the German brand. The stated goal would be to have all vehicles marketed in Europe in 2027 as well as compliant with the EU-registered standard. A ploy to have two years’ notice and thus more easily adapt to the new regulatory standards. For what reason? Well, speeding up times could lead to a stop in production for many models. A stop that would give rise to a collapse of the market in the old continent, at least in the eyes of Volskwagen. Euro 7 also concerns electric cars, considering that the environmental impact due to the braking system and tire wear will also be calculated.
Volskwagen’s request, in a broad sense, is the following: the directives concerning Euro 7 must be postponed. The measures requested by the European Commission and the timing do not seem to coincide with the pace of the automotive industry. A danger for the market is also that linked to the probable increase in the price of vehicles equipped with heat engines. Which risks cutting off the legs of petrol-powered vehicles.
