The digital donations made in 2022 through the Donate Button of the Mercado Pago company raised more than 96 million pesos for social organizations for causes related to childhood and education, the reduction of inequalities, the environment and diversity.
As the company informed me in a statement, 198,078 donations were made, 340% more than in 2021.
The campaign that received the highest amount of collection was the one destined to the emergency due to the fires that occurred in Corrientes.
Mercado Pago made its platform available to channel donations for Cáritas Argentina, the Fundación Bomberos de la Argentina, the Fundación Rewilding Argentina and the Fundación Sí, to support the work of the voluntary firefighters, help the hundreds of evacuees and victims of the catastrophe, and the protection and recovery of wildlife affected by the fires in the Iberá Park.
According to a Mercado Pago survey among users who made donations in 2022 from its Donate Button, one in four people donated to a non-governmental organization (NGO) from this tool for the first time.

More than 70% of users are interested in receiving information about the destination of their contribution. Three out of five recognized themselves as sporadic donors, while 12.7% stated that they used the Donate Button once a month.
According to a Mercado Pago survey, one in four surveyed users who collaborated through the Donate Button allocates between 1 and 10% of their income to social assistance.
Since 2020, the Donate Button has had the participation of more than 70 civil society organizations.
The contributions come from all the provinces of the country. Buenos Aires, the Federal Capital and Misiones were the districts that registered the highest percentage of donations in 2022.
