After a consistent first half, coach Markovic’s men collapsed completely to concede a second straight loss in the league.
The first quarter is relatively closed between two teams which offer enormous defensive activity which puts the opposing attacks in great difficulty. However, a player on the Dijon side floats in these first ten minutes and their name is Markis McDuffie. The strong American winger chained the shots and went for his own shots to allow Jeanne to take the lead at the end of the first quarter (17-20).
However, the SIG will react in the second quarter to regain control of the game thanks to the monumental heat stroke of Marcus Keene. The leader on the other side of the Atlantic responds to the performance of his compatriot by dissecting the Burgundian defense with his penetrations and his long-distance shots. After 20 minutes of play Keene scores 20 pts against 18 pts for McDuffie and only one point difference separates Dijonnais and Strasbourgeois (44-43).
Back from the locker room, the American leader continues his festival by again and again undermining the defense of the JDA. The Alsatian master player is perfectly supplemented by the exterior address of Tim Frazier as well as the physical impact of the Cavalière, Lansdowne and Massa trio. The interior sector of the SIG dominates outrageously in the racket and gobbles all the rebounds (42 vs 22). Coach Markovic’s men on their side fall back into their trap with loss of bullets coupled with forced shots. La Jeanne cannot keep up with the infernal rhythm of the Strasbourgeois who take a 14-point lead at the end of the third quarter (74-60). The visitors will try to sound the revolt after the exit of Marcus Keene on injury but the collective strength of the SIG definitively shakes the hopes of victory on the Burgundian side.
The Jeanne would therefore have been in the game for 20 minutes before completely exploding in flight during the second half. Even more worryingly, the JDA is struggling to regain its collective offensive strength from the first part of the season when each player could be a threat on the pitch. The Burgundian offensive game therefore seems more and more stereotyped, relying at times exclusively on the talent of McDuffie, Holston or even Mobley.
