Kelly Kavanagh and Martin McGregor, a couple originally from Cork, Ireland, got married at the Kinsale Hotel & Spa in December 2020. The couple had moved to Sydney, Australia, six years ago but postponed their wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremony was led by celebrant Rose Mummery and featured Kelly’s sister as the maid of honour and her friend as the bridesmaid, as well as Martin’s brother as the best man and his friend as the groomsmen. The couple’s one-year-old son, Tommy McGregor, was also in attendance, sharing pageboy duties with other family members.
The couple’s paths first crossed in Rearden’s Bar on Washington Street in Cork during a UEFA Euro 2016 game between Ireland and France. They bumped into each other again the following week and shared their first kiss outside Hillbilly’s fast-food restaurant.
Martin proposed in Bali in 2018 with a candlelit dinner, and the couple planned to honeymoon in Greece. Despite living in Sydney, the couple considers Ireland their home and plan to return someday. The couple’s photographer, Dermot Sullivan, captured the big day, including a photo shoot at Charles Fort, and Brian Guilfoyle from Two Paws Video filmed the occasion.
