Motorbike Homecomers Flock to Ciwandan Port as Merak Policy Changes

Cilegon

Homecomers using motorbikes bound for Sumatra began to throng the port Ciwandan. They had time to go to Merak first because they did not know the information.

The density occurred from midnight to 03.00 WIB. Some travelers did not know the information that the policy for motorbike travelers would no longer cross through Merak Harbor starting last Saturday (15/4).

“I went to Merak before, I don’t know, sir. When I wanted to buy a ticket, you know, the motorbike went there to Ciwandan, he said that, turned around again,” said one of the travelers going to Kalianda, Lampung, Martinah told reporters, Sunday (16 /4/2023).

Martinah was forced to turn around to continue her journey to Ciwandan Harbor so she could cross over to Bakauheni Port. He admitted that he did not know the information that the Port of Merak no longer serves travelers who use motorbikes.

“Thank God, I know, there is a sign there. Just a month ago, I was going home, he said, the schedule change was only 12 pm, he said, I didn’t see the information either, I just went home,” he said.

Not only Martinah, another traveler, Ahmad Rodi, also had time to go to Merak Harbor before finally being told by the ticket seller that the motorcycle was diverted to Ciwandan.

“I arrived at Merak (just bought a ticket), I had been to Merak before because I didn’t know, then I bought a ticket there and then came here,” said Rodi.

The two travelers still bought tickets when they arrived at Merak. The government and even President Joko Widodo previously advised travelers to buy tickets online through PT ASDP’s application, Ferizy.
