Thanks to an alliance between the University of Concepción, the Municipal Theater, the Conservatory of Santiago and Unesco, this May 5th the presentation of a show open to the community will take place in Chillán in order to first celebrate the 104 years of the University of Concepción, and commemorate the International Jazz Day established by Unesco itself.
This was reported by the director of the Chillán Campus of the UdeC, Pedro Pablo Rojas, who extended an invitation to the Chillanejos to participate in this concert, in which Orión Morales, Mauricio Alvarado and the Arrau Big Band participate. “This allows us to link this valuable activity with the anniversary of the University and also with International Jazz Day. It is one of the first activities to be carried out in this sense and allows us to highlight the public role that our house of studies has had in relation to the environment. These activities allow us to highlight our anniversary,” he said.
The director specified that the concert will be this May 5 starting at 7:30 p.m. and the public can withdraw their free invitations at the Municipal Theater ticket offices.
For her part, Virna Veas, executive director of the Municipal Cultural Corporation, said: “we are very happy to collaborate for the second consecutive year in this Unesco Jazz Day. We hope to have a great turnout, we are inviting the entire community, it is a niche audience, but this time we will have great artists”.
Also present at the press conference was the director of the Arrau Big Band, Andrea Silva, who explained that “as a band we are very happy to have received this invitation, we are part of the Claudio Arrau Artistic School and it is made up of teachers and students. For us it is an achievement to present ourselves on the most important stage in the region and the work we will do will be important for the development of the project. We are also happy to open these jazz spaces in the city”.
The artistic producer of the concert, Álvaro Vildósola thanked the University of Concepción and the Municipal Theater for the generation of this instance. “For us it is important to be linked with the environment.
