Although this year’s Easter holiday is almost over, there is still snow and an Easter atmosphere in several places in the country. This means that not everyone has cleaned away their skis or ski equipment for the season.
Beautiful Saturday weather in Northern Norway has also led to people flocking to the slopes – which has resulted in a fairly busy day for HRS Northern Norway.
The fear is back
On Twitter this afternoon they reported that both the rescue helicopter in Tromsø and Bodø have been alerted to assist those who have been unlucky in the ski track.
– The weather is fine – that is what has happened. Unfortunately, I do not have an overview of the actual sequence of events for the skiers who received assistance from HRS. The weather is glorious in several places in northern Norway, which means that there are a lot of people out skiing today. That naturally leads to an accident or two, says the press officer to Dagbladet.
Furthermore, he adds that it is good skiing in several places in Tromsø and the surrounding area, and therefore believes that many people take the opportunity to take a proper long trip in the nice weather.
– And we understand that people do that, but in terms of experience it is the case that when there are many people on trips, there are also many people who fall.
Although there are no reports of either challenging weather or objectionable weather conditions, the press watch asks that skiers still take their precautions before setting out on a long trip.
– You always have to be careful, and maybe have some self-awareness about your own skills? HRS understands that it is tempting to set out on a long trip, but then you have to be smart enough. You should also go with someone else – and not alone. Then it should usually go well.
Conflict in the Kremlin: Called into the carpet
The warning to exercise caution does not come without reason; earlier in April there were several large avalanches in Lyngen which claimed several lives.
The Frenchmen Roger Pourtau, Andrè Vignot, Patrick Cariat were among those who perished in the Lyng Alps.
In addition, Italian Matteo Cazzola also lost his life in the fatal avalanches.
