123.8 million people are predicted to travel for Eid, prompting the implementation of traffic policies to anticipate congestion.

Indonesia’s Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi has announced that the government will implement several traffic policies to alleviate congestion during this year’s Eid homecoming, or mudik. The government has predicted that around 123.8 million people will travel during Eid, with the largest numbers expected on April 20-21 and the return flow occurring on April 25-26. To reduce congestion, the government will limit the operating hours of transportation and implement several traffic engineering measures such as the odd-even traffic program, contraflow, and one-way policy. These measures will be enforced by the Transportation Ministry and the Traffic Police.
