Trevor Rogers allowed one run in just over six innings and the Miami Marlins outscored Madison Bumgarner and the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-1 on Friday.
Garrett Cooper and Bryan De La Cruz each had three hits for the Marlins, who won for the third straight time.
After failing to complete five innings in his first two outings of the season, Rogers (1-2) held the Diamondbacks to five hits. He struck out seven and walked one in a game that ended in 2 hours, 11 minutes in front of an announced attendance of just 10,961 fans.
Cooper’s RBI single capped a five-run fourth inning off Bumgarner, the Arizona starter whose ERA dipped to 7.90. His opponents are now hitting .321 against him.
The lefty held Miami shutout until Jacob Stallings’ RBI single came with two out. Garrett Hampson followed with an RBI double and Jon Berti’s two-run double to make it 4-0.
For the Diamondbacks, Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. 4-1.
For the Marlins, the Dominican Bryan de la Cruz 4-3. Venezuelan Avisail Garcia 4-1 with a run scored.
