The artistic director of the Cannes International Film Festival, Thierry Frémaux, announced at a press conference the full list of film selections that will compete for the Palme d’Or and the rest of the festival’s awards, which will open after 5 weeks in Cannes, southern France, between May 16 and 27.
He pointed out that the opening film of the festival is a Saudi-French collaboration starring Johnny Depp.
Organizers announced that the festival’s opening film, the biopic (Jean de Barry) by French director Mayon and starring Johnny Depp, is Depp’s first live-action film since his legal defamation battle against his ex-wife Amber Heard last year.
