If you try to connect to Haitian gangster Izo Vilaj de Die’s YouTube account today, you’ll get a message saying the page is “unavailable.” The popular American social network deleted the page.
The move comes after Dye’s Izo Vilaj posted a photo on social media last weekend of himself holding US bills and displaying a YouTube recognition plaque for having reached 100,000 followers.
This message along with the flaunting of the money upset many Haitians. This is how a petition began to circulate on the Change.org website to denounce that the mobster makes money online while his gang, Baz 5 Segond, is responsible for kidnappings and murders that target all layers of Haitian society, even the diaspora.
As of this writing, the Change.org petition had more than 21,000 signers out of a limit of 25,000.
According to The Miami HeraldJack Malon, YouTube’s head of communications policy, confirmed that the network shut down Izo Vilaj de Die’s channel because it “violated our community guidelines, which prohibit people from inciting others to commit acts of violence.”
Beyond his criminal activities, Die’s Izo Vilaj considers himself a rapper. He released his first single in 2021.
The United States Department of the Treasury, the United Nations and Canada have sanctioned the leaders of Haitian armed gangs, whom they hold responsible for the insecurity and the wave of kidnappings taking place in Haiti.
United States and Canada too are working together to sanction Haitian politicians and gang-related businessmen.
